Question 1

Does this switch assign IP addresses, or is it a dumb switch? I want a dumb switch, nothing more.

Accepted Answer

You have to be careful when looking at answers and writing answers because there are several competently different network components in this listing. Some people will answer a question based on the WIFI Router even though you are asking about the switch. The seller should have different listings to stop this confusion. The item you are asking about is a dumb switch, and will not assign IP addresses.

Question 2

Are all ports 1G line rate ?? What is the operating temperature range ??

Accepted Answer

Temps are 30-105 degrees F. Speeds, heh, all ports are capable of 1GB+ which is really fast, it's a fat pipe few will ever fill. That assumes Cat-6 cables throughout the network, however. Also, in high-electronic noise situations, you're likely to need shielded Cat-6 cables. When I bought mine (2 DGS-108s), I bought the shielded Cat6 Ethernet cables pre-made from Amazon and got rid of all my old Cat5E cords, most of whom were twenty years old anyway. I don't use wireless, I won't have it, but with three TVs, three DVDs, two work stations and a couple of laser printers and a laptop, I needed lots of ports, I figured I'd take the two-hundred-dollar hit, replace it all and be done with it, even though the TVs, DVD players and printers will never use the speed. I do have a couple of Ethernet drives that transfer at speeds a little faster than 500MB/S with the new cables and hubs, so in that regard, I got some benefit from the faster hubs. When you're talking 1GB speeds, the limiting factor is the hardware attached to the 1GB hubs rather than the Cat6 cabling and GB hubs. Good Luck.

Question 3

Is the power adapter rated for 110-120v or 110-240v?

Accepted Answer

input: 110-240v 50/60 Hz 0.2A 15VAoutput: 5.0v 1A

Question 4

which is the input?

Accepted Answer

The fifth port it the "official input" but unless you are doing something unorthodox with the wiring all ethernet cables act as a bidirectional connection line to every other connected device.
