Great video, reliable, and improved over prior generation wireless outdoor camera
I’ve been a Wyze customer for a long time. These cameras, both wired and wireless, have saved me a lot of money catching contractors stealing product and a mailbox hit and run. This is my first camera of this new generation wireless. It’s been installed for just under a week. Bought it to replace one of the hub based wireless that a raccoon chewed apart. Here is my feedback thus far. 1) Set up was a breeze with the app. Helped by the fact that I already have set up several devices. First time setting up would take a few more steps to get the Wi-Fi connection completed but should be straightforward. 2) Out of the box, the battery was about 50% charged, so fully charge before deploying using the provided cable. 3) Update the firmware to the most current version before deploying through the app. 4) Mounting - As some have noted, the screws that come with the device are not the best, but worked for my needs of mounting to a tree. One screw did strip the head, but the other two were fine. 5) Battery life - So far, it’s been MUCH better than with the hub based camera. 3.5 days installed and about 80% battery left. Previously, I had to recharge the camera about every 6 days. I’ll be playing with the settings to see what I can use to improve overall performance and how that affects the battery life in the coming weeks. 6) General observations: - Video quality at 2.5K is great. Much better than the previous generation. - Motion detection is very good and seems to catch motion better than the old generation. - It also seems to record the full length of of the motion where together previous versions would prematurely stop recording (even with the 5 minute max set) when motion was still occurring and even with ‘no cooldown’ set. - No issues with the camera disconnecting from Wi-Fi and a strong signal, much improved from the prior generation. - SD card (128GB) is working as expected. The old generation camera was near impossible to get the cards working correctly. Currently, just recording events and doing so successfully. Will switch to the continuous after a could battery cycles to see what the impact might be to battery life. - Mount is good but could be better. Gives you limited options for mounting. Would be great to have a magnet mount option like the old generation. Had a raccoon climb on it and moved the camera from its previous position. I repositioned and tightened it more and so far hasn’t been accosted again! :) - The Spotlight is VERY bright and I suspect it will chew through battery fast if in a high motion area. I turned that off given my requirements. 7) Suggestions to consider: - If you are mounting in a tough to reach space, consider the solar panel. I had one on the ‘deer cam’ that was replaced with this cam, until the cable that plugged into the cam, broke. It worked well with even partial sun. If mounting where trees will block line-of-sight to the panel, it’s less effective. Winter time, worked great (no leaves) compared to summer. - Get an SD card. I think the new generation can handle up to 256GB, but not sure. Worth the cost which is nominal these days. - Get spare batteries. THANK YOU Wyze for making the battery removable. Minimizes downtime. Recharging time on old generation was about 8 hours, so quick swapping is NICE. - Consider the cloud storage option. Not everyone will need this. Depends on your use cases and specific needs. Their subscription model is very well priced for the market and is ideal if you are going to set up multiple cameras. Overall, very pleased. Will likely replace my other cameras over time (when on sale - hint, hint Wyze!) or if they put a 2 or 3-pack option together with a good discount. I have not needed to reach out to support on the camera, but previous experience is hit or miss. Technical issues were addressed well. ‘Customer satisfaction’ issues, not so much. Example, had a spare wireless cam (hub required type) and when another died, I pulled out the spare, charged it and deployed. Worked great for a charge cycle. Recharged the camera and it would no longer run in the battery. Contacted support and was told it was out of warranty, even though they could see that the camera was just put in service (the beauty of cloud connecting a device). Pretty disappointing. They did offer a nominal credit to my account for a future purchase, which helped but frankly had me considering alternative options. So note to Wyze, you have really good technology and the capability to know when a device is put in service. Use that capability for good. My takeaway is I won’t ever buy a spare, so you’ll lose that sale. You MAY get it in the future, so consider that an opportunity lost.

Typical Wyze equipment
The cams are fine, typical Wyze equipment. Easy setup and just works. If you are upgrading from the old outdoor cams and are using the original solar panels, you will need a $5 adapter that is NOT included in the box with these models. These use the new angled connector that is also a type C connection. There are several other brands here on Amazon or you must go to the Wyze site because they don’t offer theirs via Amazon. Just an FYI Updating for the mounting of these devices. It’s absolutely horrendous. Both my mounting bases broke, because they are cheap plastic. The mounting screws are also just cheap. The wireless access for viewing is subpar as well.

Save yourself a hassle and a headache
What at first was a great idea to put some of these cameras up around an old farm house with fiberoptic internet with blazing speeds to see the comings and going and keep track of animals quickly turned into a new part time job. The batteries, although it is very cold outside, have been lasting a day at best and need to be constently recharged. This may have someting to do with setting them to all the max settings, but if that cant be done, why even have the camera with bells and whistles to begin with. There also need to be another software update on Wyze's end as they constantly, and I mean constantly, disconnet from the network and need to have the camera reset and restarted to regain connectivity. This happens everytime you open the app or look at it on the computer. This may have something to do with the short charge life of the battery. Another big goose egg in my opinion. Now lets talk installation. Although very straight forward to the point you could probably figure it out with needing the instructions, I highly recommend that you use different screws to mount the first piece in the ensamble. The screws included seem to be made of a very soft and inferrior metal where they strip very easily. I have used many screws in my life and i would equate these to dollar store quality. Save yourself the headache of using your own screw. If not fully installed flush, you will have issues putting the rest of the pieces together and wont tighten up for the camera to hold firmly in place. I have ordered solar chargers for all of my Battery Cam Pro's and will update on how well those help keep a charge on the devices. If you have a power supply near where you would like the camera outside, just get a plug in style and deal with the cord over these.

We have a winner!!
I have been a WYZE cam customer for a long time. I will say that it’s been a hit/miss with some products by this company.. I hope my review will let you make a more informed choice.. So I will keep my review unbiased and try to focus on specific qualities of this cam.. First thing, this cam is wireless, it will need to be connected to the internet via WiFi and the WYZE app… This camera comes with a battery that can be charged while inside the camera.. OR you can plug a USB-C cord right into the pack- and it does come with a power cord. This allows you to have a little more flexibility on how to re-charge the battery. I have not had any issues with power with my outside cam due to having my camera receiving power from the Wyze Solar Panel ..the cam fully charged in less than a day and has not been under full power since. My second battery cam that was charged via usb-c, I performed a settings adjusted via WYZE app to reduce the power consumption due to the light on this camera being VERY BRIGHT. That seems the have did the trick- cam has been holding charge for 2 1/2 months and can probably go several more since it is now around 50% battery life. The quality of image from this camera is highly detailed and will definitely capture someone in the middle of darkness, due to the highly sensitive sensors that will trigger the light/recording. Camera can also identify what it is, and will send alerts directly to your device letting you know what triggered the cam. Features I use included with the WYZE cam app are the alerts, and the app offers a paid version of cloud storage to gold up to 2 weeks of event video clips. The free version gives users up to 2 weeks of saved images, but will still allow you to access recorded content as long as you have a memory card installed on the camera. I, personally- like to just record my own clips which the app also allows me to save and share. The barrier/zone selection gives users a way to select an area that will trigger the camera- this comes in handy if cam faces out towards a street with high movement/traffic. This also cam lets you talk to whoever is on the other end of the shot, which makes it easy to communicate with someone knocking at the door. Sound quality is clear and very loud- no static with a great internet connection, in my experience. I enjoy using this camera as a way to monitor deliveries and visitors to my home. The bright flood light also makes it much easier to see while trying to unlock my door at night. I keep a second one in the backward, currently unmounted due to not having decided if I will be getting a second wyze solar panel, yet.. The mounting equipment the cam has included was perfect.. I had actually purchase a different set of mounts that I ended up not needing .. the ones that come with the camera are great quality and easily installed. A pro AND con is that the camera is not able to pan, so the direction it faces when installed will be the only direction it will face until you move it. If you want a cam that pans/moves while you are away, this will not work for you.. If you are looking for a cam that has a large coverage area and will stay put, this cam will work for you!! For the price, the quality and features of this cam throws the competition out of the water, I recommend this WYZE cam to everyone. I will definitely be buying more here soon. Hope my review helps, happy shopping.

Good, could use some improvements tho
I've had several different WYZE cams around my house for a while now. They include: V3 Pro, V4, Pan Cam 3, OG, OGT, Doorbell V2 and I have two of these. I keep them plugged in. For me the benefit to these cams having a battery built in is as seamless backup should power go out. This has worked on occasion. Unfortunately this model also has its downside: Maintaining connectivity. It's not terrible at keeping it, but occasionally requires a restart. Restarts are fairly quick and usually easy to do remotely. That was not the case however in the most recent occurrence. Both of my Battery Cam Pros lost connection and began flashing their "flood"-lights every few minutes. The fix: Remove my SD cards (to avoid erasure) -> Remove battery for several minutes -> Perform factory reset by reinstalling battery and holding down the red "connect" button inside. It is NOT necessary to delete the cam within the app first; in fact I advise you don't. The initial setup process will commence as when it was new, but once through those pages the app will recognize it again and integrate. Unfortunately it will be placed at the top of the home page above all other cams and any shortcuts. Can simply drag tiles where you may have had them or reorganize at this time. Last: Recheck all settings for the BCPro as some features may have switched to default settings. Important - If an SD card was continuously recording before and is to again, make sure to enable it to do so as it will have switched to motion/event snapshots with a short "max duration" length. Floodlight on via motion detection will have been enabled as well as front of device indication LEDs-on. This really wasn't too had to do, but I am very familiar with these WYZE cams & app at this point. I have no idea why this happened to only these cams; left puzzled there. Really hope WYZE can get these to operate more reliably without having to buy some new future version. I would like to see the next rendition (HIGHLY desire in-app choice & control over floodlight KELVINS!), but I also expect the BCPros I have already invested in to continue to operate well beyond new releases!

Great value with solid features, but battery life varies
I’ve been using the Wyze Wireless Outdoor/Indoor Battery Security Camera for a few weeks now, and overall, I’m impressed for the price. The 2K video quality is sharp, and I love the color night vision—it really helps identify people and objects clearly after dark. Setting it up was super easy, and I appreciate that it works both indoors and outdoors without needing a base station. The motion detection is pretty accurate thanks to the combination of radar and PIR sensors. It even notifies me about smoke alarms, which is a cool bonus. Two-way audio works fine for quick conversations, though the sound quality isn’t crystal clear. Battery life can be a bit inconsistent depending on how often motion is detected, so I recharge it about every week or so. If you’re a heavy user, be prepared for that. I’m considering adding a solar panel to reduce downtime. The app is straightforward, though sometimes notifications take a little longer than I’d like. If you want cloud storage, you’ll need to subscribe to Cam Plus, but basic functions work well without it. Overall, this camera offers excellent features at a budget-friendly price, making it a great choice for casual home security.

Not a Good Fit
Not a good fit for my use case. I purchased this to mount on my apartment door. Pricing was competitive and on paper the cost comparison between a similar Ring Cam checked-off most of the boxes. Install: I removed the front door peep-hole lens, fitted it with a longer bolt, surrounded the cam with a wreath and it is the perfect height and mount. Setup up was easy to get it online and functioning. The app is OK, not intuitive and I needed to look up some settings. Disappointingly, they do not offer a MS Windows app or one for a google TV. Config: Initially, I left most of the detection and event settings alone to base-line the function. It recorded EVERYTHING and burned through the battery in a little over a week. So, I worked with the filters to reduce the noise, I have better battery life, but it is missing events, but not consistently. For example, it will pick up events that match the filters sometimes, but other matching events do not. Some mornings, I get an alert that the camera is back online, no explanation, no reports and no way to troubleshoot if it lost WiFi, the Wyze cloud, or a camera/SW challenge. For my use case, busy apartment, the SW is not consistent with filter settings and the balance between reasonable battery life verses relative recorded content is not viable. In a different setting or use case, it may be good, but not here. Unfortunately, I will be sending this back.

Excellent camera
Battery life and picture quality are exceptional. Has been is use for 5 weeks and battery is still 70% charged. Spotlight is very bright and comes on as soon as it sees motion. Will be buying more of this camera for outside security.
