It's not going to help my speaking and accent, but this is a very useful, easy to understand and use workbook for meeting HSK expectations. The stroke order and practice pages are generous and easy to read, and the tests are simple with lots of space to write answers correctly. There's enough room to get your writing up to scratch and memorised, though I have chosen to write on paper until I feel more confident. This is a straightforward literacy and alphabet book and very simple - primary school level for native speakers. As an adult learning a new language that means it can feel a little childish but it is invaluable going through this process as understanding the radicals that form each "letter" makes it easier to learn new ones and also provides the grounding for using Traditional and Simplified keyboards.

I've just started learning Mandarin and this is an excellent help. I'm really learning the characters by drawing over the strokes in the right order.
