How do you get 220 degrees when there is only 180 degrees available to view? Can I see my ears when I look into this peep hole?

You would see anything more than 180 degrees as a ring the color of the door on the outside of the overall view. If you were looking through the peep hole without a door you would be able to see the whole 220 degrees. I don't own this but it's just normal optics.

Is the matte black really matte black? Someone said they ordered black and received black chrome

Yes. Mine was definitely black matte.

Will this work on a fiberglass door?

It will work on any door provided that you have the correct channel diameter. I had to drill and larger hole to expand the channel on my wooden door to accommodate this item
