Makita ADP05 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Cordless Power Source, Power Source Only

If you have a bunch of Makita 18v lithium power tool batteries already, buying this is pretty much a no-brainer. Here's why: you can buy a dedicated USB power bank to charge your phone, but unless you buy a huge one you are not going to get anywhere near the same capacity as all those Makita 18v batteries you already own. You also know that the genuine Makita batteries you paid an absolute bloody fortune for are sturdy, well-built with good battery management/protection circuitry and high-quality cells, designed to handle very heavy power demands without failing. In other words, your existing Makita power tool batteries are likely going to be the best set of rechargeable batteries in your house, and you also already keep them charged up at all times because you want to be able to use your power tools. So if the power goes out or you are out on a job site somewhere with no power, you can flip a spare battery onto one of these adapters and juice up your phone or your tablet really easily. And when all you are doing is asking those batteries to charge a phone, they will last a very long time. The only place you wouldn't want to use these is somewhere where you want something small and discrete, you are not putting one of those huge honking batteries and this charger adapter attached to it in your pocket. They do give you a belt clip on one end, and if you have one of the smaller batteries I guess that would be ok, but with the chunky 5Ahr batteries I normally use, it looks kind of absurd. It is more something you lay on the floor or a table and then plug in your phone. It is typical Makita quality, seems solid and unlikely to fall apart soon. No USB-C ports on it, so you will need a USB-A cable for anything you want to plug into it. Nor does it have the power to recharge your laptop, this is a convenience charger for small electronics only.

Shoot... this here gadget is fantastic. I grab my Makita drill, an extra battery and hop on the 4x4 to mosey 85 acres out to pasture and fix a gate out near the old pump house. I lose control trying to dodge a field critter, flip over the 4x4 and break both of my legs. I was able to reach for my phone and it was dead. I, however, had this charger and a drill battery with me and was able to get my phone plugged in and turned on to call my wife or call 911. As soon as I started trying to dial, I blacked out from the intense pain. The last thing I did was try and dial my wife hoping that she would know something was wrong and send one of the boys down in the old Dodge to clean me up and run me down to Dr. Hinkley near the county line.. When I woke up in the hospital, they said that a neighbor... a darned good Samaritan, in the other pasture saw me get hurt and rode over to help me out right after I blacked out and dialed my wife. I still believe, to this day, that man was an Angel (like in that show "touched by an angel" with Roma Downey and Della Reese). Sadly, my wife never got that call becasue there's no cell-phone coverage on that side of the property. Not since the railroad put in that new high voltage tower on the other side of the McIntosh's Alpaca Farm. Thank goodness for this stranger with a satellite phone who was able to call 911. By the time the ambulance showed up (20 minutes) they unplugged my phone and put it in my pocket so I would have it at the hospital when I woke up. They told me that when they found me my phone was at a 50% charge. Not too shabby for 20 minutes of charging a totally dead battery. I guess the Battery charger really didn't help save my life. It couldn't have. There was no reception anyway. But I was still happy to have a cell phone with an OK charge when I woke up in the hospital. I was able to ignore some of my pain and the disorienting effects of the heavy pain killers they were pumping into my body intravenously, because I could listen to my favorite Merle Haggard album on the MP3s inside of the phone. I finally knew that I was going to revocer and I was going to survive my accident when I was able to just listen to that darned Merle album. That song where he sings about how the "best part of dyin' is livin' real good" was just what I needed in that moment. It helped me make the decision to live. I don't even know if any of that is true, but I believe it and it's my truth. Decent little charger attachment. Would recommend.

Nice and compact, and it connects to any Makita battery. Depending on the battery size, it can last for days charging a phone or laptop. It also has an on/off switch so you don’t waste battery!

Recently I purchased a Makita 18v combo kit with a drill and impact driver. Since I only use my tools for home diy projects, I wanted to have another use for the batteries and hope a more constant use would help keep them cycled. For some reason these USB chargers are rarely seen at my local big box store and first heard about them from a review on the DeWalt version. Pricing is slightly cheaper on the Makita version, and has two USB ports which is a plus. First impressions is the build quality of the charger is nice, plastic feels like the same material as the power tools, if I can quote AvE it's a glassfiber reinforced plastic (don't quote me on that). The version I received has the USB ports sealed with a simple rubber cap and sliding on/off switch for the ports. The charger also has a belt clip that feels strong but I didn't use this. Honestly I think it would hold up to 5ah batteries, it's just too bulky to have in your belt and walk around. The figment was very tight to the Makita 5ah battery I tested, actually nice to see this since some brands have very loose connections. No issues removing or connecting the battery. I tested the charging with a 5ah battery on four bars (Makitas version of a full pack) but it was used on my impact for an hour or so, technically not 100% full. Charging my iPhone worked pretty quickly, I think the rate was the same as any wall charger or portable battery charger like those 10000mah packs. When I switched to charging my 4th gen iPad, the iPad was at 0% and took about two bars to charge the iPad. I was a bit surprised how much it took to charge the iPad but I think it's normal considering the 5ah pack has only a cell or more than those USB portable battery packs (correct me I'm wrong). If you only need a USB charger, Amazon has a few that are cheaper than buying this charger considering the cost of a Makita battery is at least $40. For everything that is presented on this product is 100% and going to keep this in my toolbox for charging, don't forget to pick up an extra cable for your phone as well. There is one call out which I have seen mentioned on other reviews is the risk of draining your battery too low. Some of the battery packs have logic that if the pack is entirely 0% charge it may register as faulty and no longer work. I haven't experienced this nor do I know Makita has this enabled but I recommend to only use this as a topping off charger for your phone.

I got this to do weird stuff. I am powering a Raspberry Pi 3 B, and a portable USB SSD. All three pieces fit in my backpack. It's a wireless hotspot, and a fileserver with my tech utils, Invoice generating software. That travels with me everywhere I work. This adapter and 3Ah battery will power the above setup all day, and still have capacity to charge my cell phone. I have not found a USB powered printer I like yet but that's next. I may have to upgrade to the 6ah battery as well. I also take this camping to charge my son's cellphone for use with his Dexcom G6. Lasts all weekend easily. Also have used this to field charge RC Drone and helicopter battery's. The adapter is very efficient in it's DC to DC conversion. Best of all I can quickly take the adapter off and still use the battery on power tools! Not to complain because this thing is great. But I wish the USB ports were on the other side. When I clip this on my belt the USB ports face down. I can't see them to plug and unplug things. It would be better to have them on top, or maybe one on top, and one on the bottom. Also this does not have a flashlight, that would have been a useful add on as well but I can simply plug a USB light in so it's not necessary. Lastly it would be great to be able to charge the battery with this adapter on top, I'd like to hook it up to a wallwart plug, or a solar panel. I dream about having this on my belt charging off a solar panel strapped to my backpack while I hike around in the sun like a cyborg.

Quebra bem o galho em casos de falta de energia. cheguei a ficar 3 dias sem energia por causa de queda de árvore, e como tenho várias baterias das ferramentas que ficam carregadas consegui manter os celulares carregados.

Works well. As someone who’s not in the trades but owns tools for diy, my ppl are always really impressed that I have this adapter. Provides decent amperage to my device, but probably not a true fast charger. Knockoff brands have terrible reviews for quality.
