Can i remove the ball head from the end of the solid arm and attach the elgato flex arm instead?

Yes you can. The ball head is the add & remove mechanism elgato has chosen. But watch out for sagging if you intend to extend it longer than the various ways advertised. If you extend it too long it just won't cope even though it's solid. For example, I wanted a key light overhead on extended mix of flex/solid arm/multi mount but it couldn't take the weight. However, it took the weight of a key light air with a bit of sagging that's with a technique on the ball head otherwise it just kept drooping down. Hope that helps
