Book is clear and concise. Great for home users or mechanics who haven't worked with new equipment out yet. Has pictures and diagrams. Very well done. Worth the money and great refresher on older systems also. Sits on book shelf or table for quick reference.

The Park Tool Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair, 4th edition (BBB-4) is the latest revision to Park Tool's classic guide to all aspects of bicycle engineering, covering preventive maintenance, repair, and general information. *If there's a better guide to bike repair out there, I've never seen it.* While it has some minor formatting failings, I still recommend it anyone who's ever thought of working on their own bike. Moreover, I can vouch for its accuracy. I volunteer as a bike mechanic (a "wrench") for a local non-profit that distributes bikes for free to people who need a bike for general commuting but can't afford one. I've repaired all manner of problems in all types of bikes, and the Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair is unfailingly consistent with what I'm taught on the job. Pros: - Comprehensive: Covers road, mountain, gravel, downhill bikes; covers everything from wheel truing to tool selection; covers all types of brakes, hubs, derailleurs, wheels, frames, cables; even includes torque settings and lubricant choices - Well-illustrated: Instructions are well-augmented by copious, clear, and accurate photographs - Accurate: Instructions are clear; everything mentioned is consistent with techniques used by pro mechanics - Good organization: Specific areas of the bike are organized into their own chapters; Chapter title and page number are at the top of the page Cons: - *NO INDEX*: Major failing. Some repair manuals don't have great indexes, but BBB doesn't have one at all! Unheard of in modern writing. - Pages are a bit too glossy. I worry that my notes will smear when I write on the pages. - You don't have to replace your version with this one unless yours is old.

If you are a home mechanic this is perfect. You get step by step instructions on how to fix or repair anything! This wonderful book has been the most helpful addition to my toolbox! I have a tendency to call it "The All-Powerful Book" just because it is that helpful. I suggest you find a paper weight though. Even if you are a bike mechanic with a shop I suggest you keep this around because it has EVERYTHING from replacing brake pads all the way to internal gear systems. Also it has a list of tools it suggests that you have in your home toolbox. (I'm assuming that it assumes that you have multiple bikes or it assumes you know which tools fit your bike because it lists EVERY bottom bracket tool.

Bottom part of the book had creases.

This book is comprehensive. It starts with basics about tools and how bike nuts and bolts and nylok nuts work. Talks about getting your confidence up that "You can do it". Also broaches the topic of" Do you really like riding bikes, or really like restoring/building bikes. So you can decide how much you want to take on. The rest of the books delves into every conceivable topic of fixing or restoring the bike. I bought it because I am beginning to restore my 1973 Holdsworth Record. I want to keep it as original as possible. I also have an E-bike which I want to properly maintain.

This is a great repair guide. I definitely recommend you buy it as well.

Very well written and organized. Many many high quality pictures. The book articulates simple and clear understanding of the many individual different component products including those made by Shimano, Campy, SRAM, Hayes, Bontrager, Textro, FSA and Chris King. Specific sequence of repair and operation of both popular and high-end parts are demonstrated through the photos. Often the images illustrate placement and use of the specific Park tool that is needed to effect the technique and sequence. The Park website has videos too, but I like the book to identify my plan and understanding, then I watch the videos to further solidify my success.

Park tool what can go wrong? Nothing.

Le fait qu'il soit en anglais n'est pas trop un problème pour moi, mais c'est quand même bien dommage de ne pas avoir d'édition en Français. Donc je recommande pour qui l'anglais et l'anglais technique ne rebute pas.
