Can i I ajust this belt myself

Hello, yes this belt is holeless and the buckle is removable. You can freely adjust it to fit your waist size. Just put off the buckle, cut the length you don't need, then heat and seal and put on the buckle to complete.

Will this fit well for a 44 waist?

Does the belt have a sliding keeper loop to control the free end?

It has something of an elastic loop for that purpose that really annoyed my husband and it stretched out, so he cut it off. He then decided how long he wanted the belt to be, took the buckle off as it was designed to do, cut the belt end on the buckle side....reassembled the belt and it's now perfect. It fits perfectly and no need for that sliding keeper loop. The belt end that would have gone in the keeper loop is shaped slightly, to tell whether you have the belt on correctly or not, so he didn't want to cut that side off. Hope that helps!

Can these belts stiff enough to hold tools such as firearms etc

They are elastic but don't have a lot of "give". I plan to use mine with a 1911 and leather holster. I think I will need to use the pants belt loops to prevent the belt sliding down and allowing the 1911 from sliding around. That said, I really like the belts as a belt and when these wear out, I will get more.
