Brando buffs or fans of True Hollywood Stories will get that sinking feeling if they're hoping for dish on this famously troubled production. Not that this two-disc \"Special Edition\" doesn't have a bounty of extras, but most concern the ship that was constructed for the film. \"Tour of the Bounty\" is a black-and-white newsreel that follows the meticulously re-created craft on its promotional voyages (\"Excitement grips the city,\" the narrator intones). A color short finds the Bounty at the \"1964 New York World's Fair.\" \"Story of the HMS Bounty,\" in black and white, is a detailed look at how the ship was recreated \"from the keel up\" with its creators and crew. The newly filmed where-is-it-now featurette, \"After the Cameras Stopped Rolling: The Journey of the Bounty,\" covers much the same ground. This set also unearths the film's original prologue and epilogue, in which discovered sole survivor William Brown relates the tragic saga of the Bounty. This framing device was excised before the film premiered, but was restored for the film's 1967 television broadcast, and has not been seen since. --Donald Liebenson

Critics be scorned. What's amazing is the crud leveled at this film and how it's endured all these years diminishing any credit due it. Brando ruined it, was troublesome, difficult to work with, cost MGM lots of $$$; Bunk! I saw this movie for the first time when it came out in '62 and it knocked me off my feet; I was ten yrs old. I appreciate it so much more today as an adult. It's a darn fine movie, take my word for it. The photography is STUNNING, period costumes great, the pagentry and colors of Tahiti take your breath away. They built a replica of the Bounty from the keel up, a feat truly remarkable. The music by Bronislau Kaper is superb and can measure up to that of Lawrence of Arabia, El Cid, King of Kings and Doctor Zhivago any day. The Love Theme is both haunting & Beautiful. The pace of the film flows very well and never once does it drag. Brando & Howard play well off each other. Richard Harris as Mills gives a fine performance along with the other character actors playing the crew. The interplay between Bligh & Christian builds just the right amount of tension. You can feel Fletcher Christian's contempt for Bligh growing more with every scene. The foppish, self centered intellectual suddenly thinking of things greater than himself, being drawn in to see the injustice & cruelty leveled at the crew. Maybe for the first time in his life Christian now knows the difference between right & wrong. He's forced to see that rule books & regulations do not make a captain. Especially one who seems to have nothing but disdain for his crew, beating them like dogs, starving them, stripping away their dignity. Bligh is a man without honor wanting desperately & only to further his own career in the British Navy, no matter who he has to crush or kill to get there. To sail around the Horn in the middle of Winter just to shave a couple of months off the voyage, risking both ship & crew. Depriving men of water in order to water plants. We the viewer are pushed to the edge along with Christian. Brando allows us to witness the smoldering powder keg within him. Then the film grants us relief as we sail & land into Paradise. Humor is put in at just the right places. When Bligh tells Christian to make love to the kings daughter in order not to offend him & Christian makes him squirm doing so, it's hysterical. I'm not sure there was a need for any great acting between Brando & Tarita, who plays the kings daughter, the sparks fly well enough on their own. The Island, the beaches, the sunsets over the ocean are truly magnificent. The native women are sensual innocence & breathtaking. You can plainly see why the crew would never want to leave this Island Paradise. The mutiny is very powerful. Christian is driven to commit this act by continued actions against the crew from Bligh & goaded by Mills; the powder keg explodes. The final scenes with Brando are beautifally acted and I have to say that I am so pleased that the original prologue & epilogue are included here because they are the perfect bookends to the movie. They set and end it wonderfully. Why they were ever taken out to begin with is beyond me. I can only say in closing that this two disc collection is great. The special features include some history, the construction of the Bounty and it's restoration over 30 years later. I would've liked some behind the scenes interviews with cast & crew but that's only a minor swipe. The original overture, intermission & entr' acte are here to make this feel like an old fashioned movie going experience that we don't see anymore. If you have a large flat screen tv & a home entertainment system, be prepared to get knocked off YOUR feet. Amazon is offering you one heck of a package here & at a great price. Don't pass it up!","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"R***S"},"reviewBody":"The 1962 version of \"Mutiny on the Bounty\" has been unjustly pilloried by critics now for over 50 years, but I still think it's a great film. While the ever-changing staff found Marlon Brando famously difficult to work with and some have mocked his English enunciation, Brando still gives a great performance as an upper class twit who becomes a hero and ultimately comes to grips with his deeds in a horrific way. While Brando is hard to warm to as a hero, Trevor Howard is magnificent as Captain Bligh, largely for making himself believably detestable in his insane scheme of water rationing, punishments, and ponderous class distinctions onboard the \"Bounty\" (traits that become even more exaggerated to his followers once cast off in a longboat.)The interpersonal drama and the unbelievable photography make this a genuine treasure. A beautiful replica of the \"Bounty\" was built for the film (and continued to sail for decades until sinking after entering Hurricane Sandy in October 2012,) and was a priceless addition to the production values of the film. Watching the footage of the ship itself justifies the investment of time it takes to watch this film. While most of the movie was shot on the actual ship, the special effects are excellent, particularly for 1962: the scene of the burning \"Bounty\" (in this case a large model was used) sinking is a defining epic shot in the history of cinema. The 2 DVD set has several bonus features emphasizing the ship itself, the most interesting of which is \"After the Cameras Stopped Rolling: The Journey of the 'Bounty.'\" In my set disc one had occasional digital artifacts and data dropouts, but disc two was perfect.In summary, while not perfect, this is an excellent film and I recommend it. Some will quibble about accents and personalities, but for an early-'60s historical drama \"Mutiny on the Bounty\" is great.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"L***L"},"reviewBody":"Epic movie, masterfully filmed, photographed, and acted out. Lets not forget about the music score, which is also excellent. Although there is not enough of British tunes from that period of history. The film is 185 minutes long and is recorded on two discs with break in between called OVERTURES. The film made a good impression on me overall; however, I was not pleased with the ending. The film does not stay true as to the life of Fletcher Christian after he and his group of mutineers find an island to live on in order to evade British navy.Mutiny of the Bounty (1962) starting Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard, Richard Harris, and Brando's third wife Tarita-- as the beautiful and exotic Tahitian princess--, is the second silver screen installment (1935 was the first one starting Clark Gable) of the famous mutiny that took place on board of a ship called Bounty on April 28, 1789. The ship's mission was to explore the Pacific island of Tahiti where a plant by the name of breadfruit was growing, and than transport the said crop to Jamaica where it was to be cultivated on mass scale to feed slaves.The expedition was a failure, once in Tahiti many of the crewmen were taken by the paradise-like life and easy sexual exploits, totally forgetting about the mission. Some of them also felt contempt for the rigorous treatment and discipline executed by the main captain.I must say that the 1962 version is my second favorite, right after Bounty (1984) starting Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson. The 80's version stays more true the real story of the mutineers and their leader Fletcher Christian. I still haven't seen the original 1935 version.Interestingly, Brando met his third wife Tarita Terripaia on the set of the film, he was 38 and she was 20. He fell for her beauty, charm, and naivete stemming from her culture. The were married from 1962 to 1972.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"B***A"},"reviewBody":"Llegó rápido y es tal cual la descripción.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"A***ー"},"reviewBody":"遥か遠い国から届きましたねー。歓喜のあまり、小躍りしてしまいました。有難うございました。昔からマーロンブランドに夢中です。43歳のブランドが可愛くて素敵すぎ!こんな素晴らしい役者は二度と現れないでしょう。日本未公開の生涯の作品すべて観たいです。戦艦バウンテー落手するまでに10年も年月要しました、出品社様、Amazon様、本当にありがとう、感謝感激。私にとっては幻のDVDであり、冥土の土産です。","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"S***D"},"reviewBody":"La película es buenísima,además lo que ocurre en ella ocurrió de verdad a finales del siglo XVIII.La copia en DVD tiene una calidad de imagen buena.El problema es que al remasterizar la película para pasarla a formato digital,las escenas dentro del barco las han oscurecido mucho.Otra cosa es el sonido.Decian que la copia en DVD TENÍA SONIDO en español 5.1 y no es así en otros idiomas si lo tiene,pero en castellano está en 2.0.Y por último al ser una película de 180 minutos la película está cortada hacia la mitad,tiene un paron para que los espectadores que la vieron cuando se estrenó,tuvieran un descanso.Este paron no sale ni cuando la ponen por los canales de televisión nacionales.Y tienes que darle al botón del mando a distancia del reproductor de DVD para avanzar esos 5 minutos absurdosEsto también sucede cuando empieza la película hay que dar un avance de 5 minutos aprox para que empiece,en una película que está pasada a un formato digital,para uso doméstico.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"4.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"M***R"},"reviewBody":"My husband was on the island of Pitcairn & met desendents of Fletcher Christian.Marlon Brando was great in this movie!","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"S***A"},"reviewBody":"La calidad del audio e imagen muy buena","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}}]},{"@type":"Product","name":"Brando: Songs My Mother Taught Me","url":"/product/171545316","image":"https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41DYGDJ06JL.jpg","offers":{"@type":"Offer","price":119819,"priceCurrency":"TRY","availability":"https://schema.org/InStock","hasMerchantReturnPolicy":{"@type":"MerchantReturnPolicy","returnPolicyCountry":"tr","applicableCountry":["tr"],"returnPolicyCategory":"https://schema.org/MerchantReturnFiniteReturnWindow","merchantReturnDays":14,"returnMethod":"https://schema.org/ReturnByMail","returnFees":"https://schema.org/FreeReturn","refundType":"https://schema.org/StoreCreditRefund"}},"description":"Full description not available","brand":{"@type":"Brand","name":"marlon brando"}}]}}
